Position Summary:

HIRING LOCATION: Newport, Vermont

Water Safety Instructors will work closely with our Instructor Trainers to design, execute, observe, and reflect upon Learn-To-Swim lessons and programming to meet the needs of all our swimmers while educating our communities about how to stay safe in, on, and around the water.

We require a high school diploma (or equivalent) as well as experience working with children. 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate competency in the four competitive strokes and two survival swimming strokes, as this role will be educating our swimmers about water safety and swimming skills.

Here is a list of the key responsibilities you would have in this position:

  • Plan for and teach American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim Program during Swim Lessons
  • Observe swimmers and provide feedback to improve technique
  • Uphold facility and organization safety protocols
  • Build relationships with swimmers & their families
  • Communicate swimmer progress with families
  • Conduct facility safety checks and base-level maintenance
  • Complete daily attendance and progress logs
  • Complete and submit end-of-session paperwork
  • Attend weekly staff meetings & professional development training
  • Complete these duties and other duties as assigned in a professional and respectful manner
