Lifeguarding Recertification for Swimming Pools (including Deep Water – 7ft or greater)

Prepare to save lives, build leadership skills, and gain employment opportunities with our American Red Cross Lifeguarding course. This comprehensive program is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to aquatic emergencies in deep water pool environments.

Through blended learning, participants receive both online and in-person skill sessions. You will engage in real-life scenarios and hands-on practice to develop key lifeguard competencies such as scanning, rescue techniques, emergency response, CPR/AED, and First Aid.

Certification Earned*:

  • Lifeguarding (Including Deep Water)
  • CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • First Aid
    *All certifications are valid for 2 years upon successful completion.

Prerequisites for the Lifeguarding Recertification for Swimming Pools (including Deep Water) Course:
  • Be at least 15 years old by the last day of the course.
  • Pass and complete the Online Blended-Learning Training.
  • Pass the Pre-Skills Assessment Below for Swimming Pools (including Deep Water).

Pre-Skills Assessment for Swimming Pools:

  • Complete a swim-tread-swim sequence without stopping:
    • Jump into the water and totally submerge.
    • Resurface and swim 150 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swimming on back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles are allowed.
    • Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading using the legs only.
    • Swim 50 yards using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute & 40 seconds:
    • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards (face may be in or out of the water, no goggles allowed).
    • Submerge to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
    • Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface.
    • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Lifeguarding Recertification Registration at Longfellow NH

Our American Red Cross Blended-Learning Lifeguarding Recertification Course consists of online and in-person training. To participate in your in-person lifeguarding training session, you are required to complete your online training prior to our in-person training dates listed below. You will receive an email from your instructor with more information about your course as we get closer to training.
